Plot.
Essentially a prequel to David Lynch and Mark Frost's earlier TV series
Twin Peaks. The first half-hour or so concerns the investigation by FBI
Agent Chet Desmond (Chris Isaak) and his partner Sam Stanley (Kiefer
Sutherland) into the murder of night-shift waitress Teresa Banks in the
small Washington state town of Deer Meadow. When Desmond finds a
mysterious clue to the murder, he inexplicably disappears. The film then
cuts to one year later in the nearby town of Twin Peaks and follows the
events during the last week in the life of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) a
troubled teenage girl with two boyfriends; the hot-tempered rebel Bobby
Briggs (Dana Ashbrook) and quiet biker James Hurley (James Marshall),
her drug addiction, and her relationship with her difficult (and possible
schizophrenic) father Leland (Ray Wise), a story in which her violent
murder was later to motivate much of the TV series. Contains a
considerable amount of sex, drugs, violence, very loud music and
inexplicable imagery.

There is nothing wrong with this movie and it's a darned sight betterthan many others out there. Good acting, excellent FX (for it's lowbudget), good suspense, explosions, interesting characters - a lovestory & a cute kid. What more do people want?
I really don't understand the angry hate being thrown at that poorchild actor - guys, he's a 7 year old CHILD! ROFL Are you expecting anOscar- worthy performance? I actually think he did an outstanding joband was very believable unlike many of the Hollywood child-faves who sooften come across as way too adult and precocious to convince me.
As for all the high-horse comments about the accuracy of certaindetails - come on.. really? Personally I couldn't give a hoot aboutwhat trains run where or how railway couplings really work and knownothing about London's train service or how far things are from otherthings in jolly old England. If you do then congratulations, you knowstuff I don't. But it doesn't really matter in the slightest for thismovie and viewers like me don't know or care. It's fiction, roll withit, I don't know of any movie that's 100% believable or factual, noteven documentaries.
Anyway - if you're looking for a light thriller that's well producedand a little different rent it and enjoy. It's not the greatestthriller ever made but it's not a bad little flick.
